Business Rates - Provide details for a local restrictions support grant (open)

Introduction

Southwark was placed in local COVID-19 alert high Tier 2 as of the following dates:

17 October 2020 to 4 November 2020
2 December 2020 to 15 December 2020.

The government announced there would be support for businesses that have not had to close but which have been severely impacted due to COVID-19 Tier 2 local restrictions.

The support is for businesses in the hospitality, hotel, bed and breakfast and leisure sectors and is in the form of a Local Restrictions Support Grant (Open).

Eligibility

To be eligible to claim your business must:

  • occupy the property on which it pays business rates
  • be open and trading to the public at the point the restriction was put into place and throughout the award period
  • have not had to close but has been impacted by local restrictions
Who is not eligible?
  • Businesses that were established after the introduction of the tiers)
  • Businesses that were in administration, insolvent or where a striking off notice has been made
  • Businesses that have exceeded the permitted state aid limit
  • Specific business subject to national closures since 23 March 2020. This includes nightclubs and sexual entertainment venues where grants will be paid under a separate scheme
