Council Tax - Set up a Direct Debit

Introduction

Set up a Direct Debit to pay your Council Tax using our secure form.

You'll be protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee. No changes in the amount, date or frequency of your payments can be made without letting you know you at least 10 working days before your next payment.

If we make a mistake, you're entitled to an immediate refund from your bank or building society.

You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by contacting your bank or building society. Please let us know if you do this.

To set up your Direct Debit, we'll need your:

  • bank or building society name
  • account number
  • sort code
  • Council Tax account number
You can only set up a Direct Debit online if your name appears on the Council Tax bill, you have a personal bank account and you're the only person required to give permission for Direct Debit payments to be made.

If you're a third party, have a business bank account or more than one person is required to authorise Direct Debit payments, please download a paper Direct Debit form.
