Council Tax - Set up a Direct Debit

Introduction

Set up a Direct Debit to pay your Council Tax using our secure form.

You'll be protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee. No changes in the amount, date or frequency of your payments can be made without letting you know you at least 10 working days before your next payment.

If we make a mistake, you're entitled to an immediate refund from your bank or building society.

You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by contacting your bank or building society. Please let us know if you do this.

To set up your Direct Debit, we'll need the following information:

  • bank or building society name
  • account number
  • sort code
  • bank address
  • Council Tax account number
You can only set up a Direct Debit online if you have a personal bank account and you're the only person required to give permission for Direct Debit payments to be made.

If you have a business bank account or more than one person is required to authorise Direct Debit payments, please download a paper Direct Debit form.

If you can't print, please phone us on 020 7525 1850 and we'll post you a form.

The information you provide will be used fairly and lawfully and Southwark Council will not knowingly do anything which may lead to a breach of the Data Protection Act 1998.
