Education - Primary school plans

Southwark Council has recently announced that it is working with the Head teacher and governors of Dulwich Hamlet Junior School on a proposal to set up a new school on the site of the former Old Bellenden School in the south of borough to meet the expected shortfall of school places.

The plans will see the creation of a new primary academy, creating two new forms of entry with 60 new, permanent reception class places. If all goes well the new school is planned to open in September 2015, taking its first two reception classes.

Anyone who is interested in possibly sending a child to the new school should leave their contact details so that they can receive further information in due course.

A public meeting is proposed for this autumn where the plans can be discussed in greater detail.
